Hello plain_bob. I understand you are unable to scan, and I will do my best to assist you! First, please ensure you download and run this specific driver. When you run it, the software will extract to a folder. Install the software and try to scan.
If you are unable to scan, run the Print and Scan Doctor. If you still receive the same error, here are some additional steps to try:
- Go to the Start menu, and type %temp% in the search bar. Afterward, hit enter.
- Locate the most recent folder that begins with "7z".
- Go to the "setup" folder.
- Go to the "hpphotosmartessential" folder.
- Right click on "HPPhotosmartEssential.msi" and select Install.
- If you are still unable to scan, or experience an error, try Repair instead.
