Apologies for the delay in replying. Yes, when the printer in connected via the USB there is a connect sound.
The printer is listed in 'other devices' but not in Update Driver Software - Add Printer Wizard list of HP printers.
On the Device manager the HP printer is shown with a question mark against it and when you open it , it says that the device is working properly. When you go to Properties and open the Driver tab it says that no driver files are required or have been loaded for this device. I have done the 'Update Driver' that is also on the tab and it says that Windows could not find driver softwarw for my device.
