I am really grateful for your perseverance, and wish that I could report success. But we may be edging closer.
My CD does say "For Windows 7".
I followed your instructions. Judging by the time elapsed, I think that we got past the point at which the installer was previously reporting the missing file.
However, we now have a different error message: "... hpzsetup.exe ... has requested the [Microsoft Visual C++] Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."
When I clicked on OK, the message changed to "HP Installer set-up has stopped working". At least that is more graceful than simply disappearing!
