Like so many of you, I used to have a perfectly functioning B209. Until I bought a new computer last week and went to install my printer.
I couldn't find the disk the other day, so I started at HP's website, downloaded the driver for my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit system. I had heard Win 8 has a lot of issues so I just stayed with a product I knew was compatible with my other hardware and software. I then downloaded the updates that were listed along with the complete install download.
No luck. It went through the process and I got a fatal error.
I tried using the disk that came with it and it no longer opens properly, when I try and launch Setup.exe it tells me it failed to find a file?
Today I used the file that ends in -4 from the ccc folder as I saw in posts here, then did a "run" followed by "%temp% to clear those files out. I double checked that there were no remaining files related to an install on my computer in "uninstall a program" and then did a disk cleanup through accessories>system tools>disk cleanup.
Needless to say, the computer has been restarted a billion times today as I have completed this process multiple times today...It is now 1813 where I am and I have officially logged 10 hours of time on this.
After what I thought was a thorough scrubbing, I attempted to reinstall. I made it ALL THE WAY THROUGH another complete install, only to get to the configuration portion to get a "fatal error" with no explanation or address for me to follow.
I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall this driver in the neighborhood of a dozen times today. I have also update my Adobe Flash to 11.8 as required by the helpful little error suggestion pdf thing that popped up that I followed word for word.
I am usually less verbose but this printer has driven me to drink today. I hope someone has a suggestion that will help!
Thanks!
