Hi there,

tried various things and have a sort-of-workaround solution....

first what i tried / not tried;  (suggestions in green, my reply in blue)

Solution One: I want to try to repair the trayapp.msi which can be found by typing %temp% and searching for a 7z... folder containing your printer files (mine was called 7zS3AE6).  Trayapp.msi is the file you will need to find in your setup folder

Did not find either the directory nor the file....

Solution Two: If that doesn't work, check your Program Files for the hpscanapp.exe in the Bin folder (under HP>>Officejet 6500 E709 folder)

searched for hps*.exe (using total commander) from the root onward, nothing except for "hpsjrreg.exe" wich seems a program to register the unit ....

Solution Three:  If that doesn't work, rReview the document below for more some more tips.

 --Resolving MSI Errors--

that document states to "Do not try to replace only the MSI file. Instead, reinstall the entire software package that is associated with the MSI file." Well, I've been flogging that horse so long and repeatedly it's already gone and eaten by the worms...

Solution Four:  Lastly, if none of the above suggestions work, go into safe mode and then open the 7z folder in your %temp% directory again and go to the Util>>ccc>>Uninstall_L4.bat which is a level 4 .....

Did that uninstall before somewhere 2 months ago. remember the HP suite was the very first thing in installed on this laptop. doing it over and over and over again does not change anything....  you can keep trying to hammer a nail in a concrete wall with your forehead, but regardless how often you try, not gonna work...

--Fatal Error 1603--  I saw this error in your list above but I am still providing this only for more instructions on what to do next (starting at Solution 3)

Not sure where that is heading, but we already concluded that some processes in the installation seem to kill each other...

now here is the workaround....

remember printing already worked. also i could scan using the web-interface.

somebody pointed me to the freeware package "faststone image viewer" - wich basically is similar to  Irfanview or Picasa. But it also has a build in WIA interface .... wich works! I can even scan using the document feeder - so all basic functions now work.

I still need to find a good OCR software to go with it, and then I'm done.

I think I leave it here - sorry. the suite is not going to work then, I will cautiously remove those parts from the computer. The issue is not really solved, but for my it's not paying off to invest anymore time and energy .

I thank you - VisioAiry for the support so far and your patience with me :)
