Hi Bill,

  1. From the Control Panel select Devices and Printers, then right click the printer icon and select Printer Properties.
  2. Within the Ports tab, take a note of the port used by your printer and click the Cancel button to close that windows.
  3. Click Add a printer, then click The printer that I want isn't listed.
  4. Select Add a local printer or a network printer wit manual settings and press Next.
  5. Select the existing port as used by the printer and press Next.
  6. Select HP.
  7. Select the HP Deskjet 6940 Series and press Next.
Note: if no such model appear on the list, click Windows Update and allow several minutes till the list re-appear.

Now you may print a Poster Printing with the alternative 6940 driver, the poseter printing option is available within the Finishing tab (Pages per sheet and Posters).

Done,

HP Print and Scan Doctor gave me the problem: no software and drivers installed on my PC.

Solution proposed: go to the website and download.

And finally i come back to the previous problem, a crash during the installation of the software.

It doesn't work, the problem is in loop......

How do I resolve the poor quality picture printing on my HP Deskjet 2540 all in one printer.

I have the premium software upgrade and still can't control the quality of the final printed picture. The original picture is slightly over the 4x6 size of prnting picture. However it won't allow the maximum fill of the paper and gives it a senseless margin at the side and bottom  before printing. I have tried cropping before printing and the printer itself imposes a margin. Help please.

Re: Generic AirPrint driver HP LaserJet Pro M402dn - When will a dedicated driver appear - Bug Repor

Hi,

This is now fixed.  I may have been sent this file from you in ealier discussions:

hp-printer-essentials-SE-4_7_0.pkg  ( https://support.apple.com/kb/DL907?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US ).

But I never installed it because it had a 2015 date on it.  My fault as I thought it was old.  It is an Apple thing.

I ran that installer and a printer-specific drive appeared and I can now print envelopes over airprint.

I know this really has nothing to do with you, but perhaps this file should be included with the Mac installation routines together with HP Easy Start?

Thanks again for your suggestions.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi,

From your description I assume the installation fails for not meeting the USB Hardware System Requirements, please correct me otherwise.

Click the Start button and type %temp% into the search bar, then open the shown Temp folder.

Open the latest HP installation folder which begins with 7z (e.g. 7zs1234)
Open the Setup folder.
Locate the usbready.exe file and rename it into usbready.old.exe
Browse back to the main extraction folder (the folders who starts with 7z) and launch the Setup.exe file.

Now follow the installation and check for any difference.

Shlomi

Install fax driver deskjet 3835

When I had problem of connection with the printer, I did uninstall all drivers and reinstalled complete version, since then the fax icon is missing.

There is  the printer icon and I can print without any problems and can use fax function for printed document manually from printer but not from PC directly.

Please advise how to install fax driver and fax icon back.

HP Photosmart 8450 prints only black and white with iMAC computer OS 10.11

I use an HP 8450 on my other iMAC Late 2009 with 10.11, but it was installed back under 10.7. I recently found another 8450 for my wifes iMAC late 2013 under 10.11. THe problem is it only prints in Black and White. Under the print menu it says it was set up as Generic laser printer and does not give an option to change. I have the original HP 8450 install disc, but it will not run under 10.11 as it gives an error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I was able to set the printer up via the USB cable.  I don't understand why it won't setup via wireless.  It is still the same operating system - Vista 64 bit.

HP ENVY 7640 prints & scans in Windows 7, scans in Windows 10, but doesn't print

I just purchased this printer yesterday and followed the installation instructions exactly. The printer seemed to install successfully on both a Windows 7 laptop and a Windows 10 desktop computer. It is visible on my wireless network. It appears in my wireless router's web-based interface just fine. I can access the printer's web-based interface just fine. On the Windows 7 computer, everything works just fine. On the Windows 10 computer, it scans just fine. However, anything sent to be printed seems to disappear before it gets in the queue.

Device Manager says "This device is working properly" and "The best driver software for your device is already installed."

Devices and Printers shows the printer and fax. When I right-click the printer, and select Printer properties, everything looks fine. There are some differences between Windows 7 and Windows 10, though.

In Windows 7, on the General tab, the Comment field is blank. In Windows 10, the Comment field states, "This is a web services printer".

In Windows 7, on the Ports tab, the port name contains the printer serial number and some additional digits. The port description is given as "HP network re-discovery port monitor". In Windows 10, the port name contains WSD and a bunch of letters, numerals, and dashes. The port description contains "WSD Port".

In Windows 7, on the General tab, Print Test Page works. In Windows 10, Print Test Page displays "Test page failed to print."

Oddly, in Windows 10, I am able to print a test page from the HP Print and Scan Doctor, just not from anything else.

This is unacceptible! I have had issues with HP printers and new operating systems before, but, fer cryin' out loud, this printer and Windows 10 have been around for a while now! However, I can see that I am not the only person with these same issues!

I have already wasted a weekend jumping through all the hoops -- uninstalling, reinstalling, unplugging, replugging, turning off firewalls, turning on firewalls, running HP Print and Scan Doctor, rebooting, etc., etc., etc. I am NOT going to do all this again as it is an utter waste of time, so don't even bother instructing me to do so!

I need REAL help on this! I am not afraid of poking around in the registry or system manager, renaming DLLs, etc., so just tell me what to do!

If I wind up needing to take this back, I guarantee you I will never buy another HP product again!

UPDATE: Just noticed this in Event Viewer. I think it happened when I booted up.

"The print spooler failed to load a plug-in module HPDiscoPMDC11.dll, error code 0x7E."

UPDATE #2: I found the previously mentioned DLL in the registry at:

HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Print\Monitors\HP Discovery Port Monitor (HP ENVY 7640 series)

Mind you, I have no idea if this has anything to do with my orinter issue.

HP Officejet 7210 All-in-one working in Windows 10

0

Anyone have any suggestions for my situation?

I have an HP Officejet 7210 All-in-one that I've had for some time. (It has been working fine all this time.)

As my last computer was wearing out (i.e., starting to act a little 'ginchey'), it was time for an upgrade... So I went from one Dell 64-bit to another.

The 7210 worked fine on my last Dell, however I can't get all of the software (scanning, printing, faxing, etc.) to install correctly from the CD (obviously old operating system version). HP web site for driver updates is sort of useless (they appear to have abandoned this machine, no longer supporting it).

Here is the rub: Old pc was running Windows 10, new machine is running Windows 10.

Any suggestions from folks out there?

Frankly, if I am just a victim of HP 'yanking' support from an otherwise operable device, I am thinking going 'elsewhere' for my next printer if I must upgrade.

Sort of sad, I used to be a big HP fan over many years, but their current support, products, etc. are leading me to look elsewhere these days.

Thanks to any and all, for support, ideas, suggestions, et cetera.

Google Drive App

The Google Drive App worked fine for two weeks .  I went in to change my email and reboot the system to factory default settings and now it won't connect again.

1) When I press the Google Drive app on the front screen, it gives me a code and tells me to go to Google.com/device.

2) I go to Google.com/device and enter that code, "allow" the permissions and it says "Return to your device to continue."

3) On the printer, I hit "confirm" as directed.

4) Here is where the problem is -- instead of moving on to the next step.... it goes to a screen that says "Loading"...takes about 30 seconds -- and then takes me right back to the first step giving me a code and telling me to go to Google.com/device.

I'm stuck in this continuous loop where it doesn't connect.  It had worked fine for about two weeks until I tried to change my email...and now it won't connect.

Any help out there? Suggestions??
