I just purchased this printer yesterday and followed the installation instructions exactly. The printer seemed to install successfully on both a Windows 7 laptop and a Windows 10 desktop computer. It is visible on my wireless network. It appears in my wireless router's web-based interface just fine. I can access the printer's web-based interface just fine. On the Windows 7 computer, everything works just fine. On the Windows 10 computer, it scans just fine. However, anything sent to be printed seems to disappear before it gets in the queue.
Device Manager says "This device is working properly" and "The best driver software for your device is already installed."
Devices and Printers shows the printer and fax. When I right-click the printer, and select Printer properties, everything looks fine. There are some differences between Windows 7 and Windows 10, though.
In Windows 7, on the General tab, the Comment field is blank. In Windows 10, the Comment field states, "This is a web services printer".
In Windows 7, on the Ports tab, the port name contains the printer serial number and some additional digits. The port description is given as "HP network re-discovery port monitor". In Windows 10, the port name contains WSD and a bunch of letters, numerals, and dashes. The port description contains "WSD Port".
In Windows 7, on the General tab, Print Test Page works. In Windows 10, Print Test Page displays "Test page failed to print."
Oddly, in Windows 10, I am able to print a test page from the HP Print and Scan Doctor, just not from anything else.
This is unacceptible! I have had issues with HP printers and new operating systems before, but, fer cryin' out loud, this printer and Windows 10 have been around for a while now! However, I can see that I am not the only person with these same issues!
I have already wasted a weekend jumping through all the hoops -- uninstalling, reinstalling, unplugging, replugging, turning off firewalls, turning on firewalls, running HP Print and Scan Doctor, rebooting, etc., etc., etc. I am NOT going to do all this again as it is an utter waste of time, so don't even bother instructing me to do so!
I need REAL help on this! I am not afraid of poking around in the registry or system manager, renaming DLLs, etc., so just tell me what to do!
If I wind up needing to take this back, I guarantee you I will never buy another HP product again!
